How to mark up Word and Excel files
Specs, door schedules and submittal logs often arrive as Word or Excel files. PlanDesk opens them as PDFs, so you can cloud, comment, stamp and sign them like any drawing. The original file isn't changed.
Open the file
Choose File › Open and pick the .docx or .xlsx file, drag it onto PlanDesk, or open it from Mail or Files with Open in PlanDesk.
Let it convert
PlanDesk turns it into a PDF in a few seconds: Word pages as they're laid out, and each Excel sheet as its own set of pages, wide sheets on landscape pages.
Mark it up
Use any tool: highlight a spec paragraph, cloud a schedule row, add a stamp or a signature.
Save it
Save PDF saves the marked-up PDF. If the file came from a cloud drive, the PDF is saved beside the original there.
Tips
- On iPad and iPhone, the conversion has real, searchable text. In a browser, use Document › Read scanned sheets (OCR) if you need to search it.
- Older .doc files convert on iPad and iPhone. On a computer, save them as .docx or PDF from Word first.
